Jonesboro’s Katie Stripling, a sophomore at the University of Arkansas, cleared 14 feet 2 inches at the Arkansas Twilight meet to improve her regional qualifying mark for NCAA regionals and break the record of 14-0. Her previous season best was 13-4 1/2 which she set in early April. Stripling said the clearance is a big confidence boost with the SEC Championships in May at Auburn. “It feels awesome”, Katie commented. “I didn’t know it was a school record until I cleared it. Everything went good. I gave it a chance, and it worked out for me. I decided I was going to have fun (at the meet), and that’s what I did. It gives me confidence to jump high.” Katie is the daughter of Dr. Mark and Peggy Stripling. CONGRATULATIONS KATIE! MLM
